When the annual Toronto Festival of Arts and Creativity, Luminato, comes to an end it doesn’t just fade out. This year the final event was hosted by Biotherm, held at the fabulous Thompson Hotel in Toronto (can you tell I dig it there?!) and the hosts and hostesses were styled by none other than yours truly!
The night began on the rooftop of the Thompson with a VIPs-only cocktail party…the likes of Bonnie Brooks and Javier San Juan were there, but the real draw was none other than Mr. Big. He was gracious and charming and a lot shier than I would have thought, not to mention tall and quite gorgeous…
There was a second venue for the main event in case it rained. In the end, the gods smiled and there was no need to use the ballroom (despite how gorgeously it was set up by Superior Events).
I wore a white cocktail dress, gray Miu Miu paten leather pumps with bow (of course) and a vintage Falchi copper bag. And of course a “Big” smile…pun intended…
Finally, the whole process of dressing the hosts and hostesses began in the weeks before the big night and it was my first foray into styling for a large corporation. It was pretty darn cool to shop, bring the potential outfits to the big head office and then present the client with the looks I had in mind (turns out I might also kinda be a personal shopper and stylist- so keep me in mind, people!)…In an effort to make the guys and girls look fresh and summery, but also maintain the mandate of an all-black uniform, I chose a crisp black button down and skinny dress pants from Zara for the guys and one shouldered ruched dresses from Forever 21 for the girls. What to do to meet the requirements and still have a little fashion fun? I added accessories for the gals: big glam cocktail rings, mixed rhinestone bracelets and flower-adorned headbands.
A great night in what has already proven to be an unparalleled venue, Luminato came to a close, but went out with bang.
