I love everything retro. I have been known to sport platforms and bell bottoms even when the majority of folks are strutting there skinnies…So, it was utterly to my delight when Barila brought seventies glamour to life on the runway at Montreal Fashion Week No. 20.
The fresh new look was the head scarf topped with a floppy hat. Dramatic and sophisticated, this was a look that was immediately tweeted about as the show was happening- so effortlessly fabulous.
Hemlines were long, with below the knee and maxi silhouettes dominating the runway and the colors were Autumn hues that evoked a seventies-movie vibe.
Pieces that took the cake at this show: The fur muff was Russian aristocracy meets disco film star and the fur poncho, which could be easily integrated into any wardrobe.
Another winter-ready look: a white long dress and rich red obi belt…
My favorite style was the seventies power suit. I would wear luxe leather boots and tons of bead necklaces with this totally versatile outfit.
All-in-all this show was inspiring. It was a retro-referenced runway with a fresh new take and I can’t wait for Fall…
