LKISEvents: Le Chateau Spring 2012 Preview

There are some clothes that remind you of poignant moments in your childhood.

For me, there were two brands that defined those defining moments of starting high school and the beginning of my love of a party circuit.

This was a time when fashion for 13 year olds was not a market priority and some brands emerged, tapping into something special (not to mention profitable): the coming-of-age “tween” market.

The first outfits that gave my-tween-self that I-am-so-grown-up-vibe were from Betsy Johnson and, you guessed it, Le Chateau.

Well, last week, I attended an event for Le Chateau‘s Spring Preview and was pleasantly surprised that like me, Le Chateau has since evolved.

Sophisticated separates in adventurous colours called out for spring (despite the cold outside).

And the accessories were truly where it was at. I wasn’t loving all of them (some were a little too ho-hum for me), but colour injections and some unique pieces made an impression.

Check out this cute fold over faux-python purse and a crystal headband that definitely forced a few of us stop and look:

I especially liked these chunky heeled sandals and this floral clutch.

There were tables coverd in jewellery and I was intrigued by the rose gold (soooo elegant and fresh) and the goth-esque black swarovski-covered rose pin.

These vibrant agate pendants would be great with any outfit (a blazer, white tank, jeans and one of these- yes please!).

The crowd was taking it all in and enjoying a midi-verre and the scrumptious food at Venti.

Did I mention that we also had the pleasure of sampling delectablee treats perfectly prepared by the Master oysterologist, Dan Notkin?  (yum!)

Then on the way out, it was gift-bags galore, with bags already sporting the new logo.

A new look, an elevated feel, revamped stores and an exciting evolution: I would say Le Chateau is all growns up.

As for me?…Jury is still out on that one.
