LKISEvents: Nolcha Fashion Week, S/S 2014, The Fashion, Part 1

I headed to NYC last week to check out the action during Nolcha Fashion Week. The action packed Nolcha is held for up-and-coming fashion designers and you can tell that there is some serious momentum behind this event.

Here is my take on the first set of shows I had the chance to check out:

Activewear in fun splashy colours, this collection was all about function AND form. The best part of this show was that the models were so well cast, they were healthy and active looking which made the clothes really come to life.

The Vanity Project

This brand is really cool and embodies this concept: You clothes are a billboard, use it for good. I can say that they were all totally sellable/wearable- talk about feel-good fashion.

Intrepid by Ao’c

Well, Jennie Garth definitely stole the show as one of the runway models! Muted neutrals and leather paneling made for a really clean, fresh, collection.

Karo Swimwear

These bathing suits were all bold, colourful pieces with a definite sense of humour. I loved the use of layering in one of the monokinis and while I don’t think a wrap around stuffed snake will be hitting the beaches any time soon, it was definitely a fun touch.

Project Subway

So, get this: Subway had a take of Project Runway where designers were invited to create garments out of any item found in a Subway restaurant. The end result was imaginative and delightful pieces.

More on Nolcha coming soon-

I still have to tell you all about more of the fashion (of course) and the scene!
