LKISEvents: On Virgin Radio, World Mastercard Fashion Week, S/S 2014, The Fashion, Day 1 + 2

My Next Post is up on Virgin Radio!

It is also posted below (so you can just read, without the clicking…phew!).

It’s that time of year again!

World Mastercard Fashion Week is underway in Toronto and of course I am on the front lines getting all the stylish goods on the best fashions from Canada’s designers.

Here is the rundown on day 1 and 2:

The rumblings before this show were about why Chloe Comme Paris had changed its name (given that they are kind of sweethearts of World Mastercard Fashion Week…). Well, regardless of the name change, the collection was pretty, light with an edge, and safety-pin-inspired seams that were totally modern. I also love all the accessories that embodied the cool-factor of this design duo.

I have to say that this show was pretty sombre by comparison to past seasons. The look was definitely retro (I would expect nothing less) and while I loved the navy textured pieces and the perfect garden-party dresses, I was not a fan of the heavier looking black and white garments (especially the giant cartoonish florals).

This show was filled with interesting silhouettes and had an overall deconstructed feel. Layers were abundant and I was digging the painterly print and the dose of emerald green: That is a colour that just won’t quit.

Who doesn’t love a little healthy competition?

These designers were clearly a very talented group and it was no wonder that the judges couldn’t decide and had to pick two winners: Matiere Noire and Malorie Urbonovitch.

The other competitors were also extremely talented and here are a few of my favourite looks:

Is it possible to want everything from a collection? Um, I assure you…it is. Perforations in perfect patterns, structure and space-age shoe covers all made for a runway show that had me at hello. I adored the shimmering sheer layers, the structured, but completely elegant perforated pieces, and the ideal combination of black and white done right.

So that’s a wrap on Day 2 of World Mastercard Fashion Week!

More to come this week and next right here and on For up to the minute stuff straight from the tents check out my Twitter (@LKISStyle) and on Instagram (also @LKISStyle)!

See you on the runway!
